Awards program honors contributions of major retailers to community efforts such as improving educational programs, fighting hunger, and assisting children/families in need
SAN DIEGO (January 13, 2003) - Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE), the world’s largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal and business services, today was named as one of 10 winners of Executive Technology magazine’s Second Annual Retail Community Service Award. The award, which honors MBE’s commitment to the communities it serves, was accepted by MBE President Stuart Mathis at an awards presentation featuring former Mayor Rudy Giuliani in New York.
Throughout the year, MBE marketing campaigns encourage franchisee community involvement through various initiatives. For example, last fall, in appreciation for dedicated teachers and schools across the country, MBE implemented a nationwide Pack, Ship & Earn Extra Credit promotion designed to financially benefit local schools. When a customer used a participating MBE location to pack and ship an item, the center donated a portion of the proceeds to the customer’s choice of participating schools. Additionally, MBE locations around the world support the MBE We Deliver Dreams Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to helping children who are victims of abuse, neglect, poverty, violence or illness.
"We are proud to be recognized for the commitment of our franchisees and associates to improving the quality of life in the communities where they live and work," said Mathis. "The greatest reward is knowing you’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life."
Executive Technology created the awards program to celebrate the retail industry’s contributions to the communities they serve. All 10 winners of this year’s award were profiled in the December issue of Executive Technology magazine.
